In February I flew halfway around the world to Beirut, Lebanon to shoot this fashion editorial assignment for Plastik Magazine. The theme was “Spring Ladies Club” and most of the styling was vintage Americana inspired. It was a bit more bright and glossy than what I’m used to, but I’m happy with how it turned out and am thinking this new style might apply itself well to future commercial projects. We shot 10 different images in one long day at a Laduree macaroon shop and a local school. I had a little bit of time to explore while I was there and there’s some cellphone travel snapshots towards the end of this post. You’ll notice a sharp contrast between the high end malls and luxury shops in the newly developed downtown Beirut versus the rest of the city. I’m hoping to travel back there again sometime later this year & shoot some more personal work.

Special thanks to Eli, Ryan, Elias, Kinda, Lea & all the new friends I made in Lebanon!

Plastik is available in select bookstores around the globe. In Chicago you can find it at Quimby’s, Europa Books, Water Tower Newsstand, Modi’s Newsstand, & City News.

  1. Good stuff! Did the power ever go out while you were shooting? They have like daily power outages there.

Thanks! Yeah the power went off at noon for a few minutes, I thought we blew a fuse but apparently that’s a regular occurrence there.

    That is one awesome shoot!
